Office for National Statistics
This website lets you search for information about your local area that was collected in the UK census.

US Census Bureau's International Database
On this website you can browse population data for many countries in the world. You can get population pyramids to show the country's population structure. As well as finding out today's population structure for a country, you can also find out what it was like in the past and how might look in the future. The site also includes details of the sources of their data.

Gapminder World
This great web application lets you look at how population has changed over time with animated graphs and also how population is distributed around the world.
