Last term, students in Year 9 had a go at designing 'hurricane-proof' houses for the USA's Gulf Coast. When designing their houses they had to consider factors that make hurricanes so hazardous, such as high wind speeds and storm surges. Some of their ideas are shown in the pictures below.
