Changing High Streets Wordles

Year 10 students were busy in their geography lesson last Wednesday presenting the findings of their fieldwork on changing high streets. Part of the fieldwork day involved students conducting a questionnaire of local people about changes to the high streets in Bletchley and Stony Stratford.
Although most of the questionnaire results could be presented as conventional bar or pie charts, sometimes these methods are not suitable especially for open questions. So that they could present their findings in an engaging way the students learnt how to use a web based application, called Wordle, to create ‘word clouds’ of their results. In each of the examples below the size of the font is related to how often the word occurs in people’s answers, the larger the font the more frequently the word was mentioned.
